Welcome one and all the MEAT of the website. That's right. I'm talking about the comics themselves. Here, I present to you the various episodes of Mystic Legends in sprite comic format. I also do flashes, but those are far and few between. I feel I should let you all know that it was my original intention to make Mystic Legends a hand drawn series when I first started, but I considered myself to have a lack of talent in the hand drawing department, so I took up sprite work instead. My tastes have changed over the years though (along with getting more experience) and I thought about making my series hand drawn again from time to time. But at this point, I've already done so much sprite work that it'd be a waste to just throw it all away for the sake of making everything hand drawn. So I've decided that I'm going to finish both Story Arcs 1 and 2 in sprite comic format. After that, I'll either re-make the entire series into hand drawn format, make a third story arc, or just quit making the Mystic Legends series after Story Arc 2. I may even continue to just make random episodes after finishing Story Arc 2, for those who want to keep coming back to check up on something funny.
Fun facts about Mystic Legends:
- When the series first began, it was meant to be a collection of short stories similar to the website "Battle of the Video Game Heroes".
- From the first episode all the way up to episode 51, text box placement was incorrect in many of my episodes. This issue was thankfully resolved for the later episodes, but the earlier episodes remain as is.
- Sprite graphic changes to a particular character were hastily put into earlier episodes back in my earlier years. Now days, I avoid such maneuvers, as any given character should remain in their first chosen particular sprite style unless a good reason pops up. (Like making a joke)
- By Chapter 2, a story unique for Mystic Legends began to form in my head, but it was FAR from finalized. Now days though, all the major plot points of Story Arc 1 (on my department) are finalized, and about 80% of the major plot points for Story Arc 2 are finalized. It's all the minor parts in-between that are still in the works. And for the record, nothing is truly final until the episode is made. Change in plans can still happen, like the inclusion of Felicia, who I didn't originally intend to put in... at first. This was before I got into Darkstalkers though.
- Related to Felicia, she was added later into the story for the sake of bringing up the count of main female leads. Seriously. Most of the main leads in this story are guys.
- The comic has served as a self overall learning experience for me, teaching me the things I should and SHOULDN'T do in making a sprite comic... and comics in general for that matter. To this date, the comic STILL serves as a self learning process.
- I have fun doing this. This isn't my actual job. It's just a hobby... but there is a realistic goal in my head to try and turn this into an official series. That may never happen though, and the closest we'll get are full hand drawing flash animations.
... I've said enough though. What are you waiting for? Adventure awaits!
